Animal pollinators play a vital role in our ecosystem and food supply. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, more than 80 percent of the world’s flowering plants rely on pollinators for reproduction. What’s more, humans depend on pollinators for 1/3 of all the food we eat. Without pollinators, agriculture as we know it would not exist. Unfortunately, the future of our pollinators is in jeopardy due to habitat loss, pesticide misuse, and disease.
One of the best ways to help our pollinators is by planting pollinator-friendly wildflowers, legumes and forbs. Our Pollinator Blends contain some of the most valuable plants for bees, butterflies, birds, moths and other animal pollinators. Each blend has been designed to provide optimum pollinator habitat in each region of the country. A special emphasis has been placed on providing habitat for the struggling monarch butterfly – a majestic insect that relies solely on milkweed as a food source.
Our Pollinator Blends are easy to plant and can be grown in gardens, medians, along roadsides, fence lines, hillsides, park strips, canal banks, or any other open or unused area. Besides providing an excellent source of pollen and nectar, these blends will put on a dazzling display of color throughout the season.
