Six weeks fescue is a cool-season annual bunchgrass native to North America. It grows in open sunny spaces naturally between shrubs and is commonly found in burn areas after a fire. It is adapted to a wide range of soils and soil textures and is often used for erosion control. It is mostly found in common sterile, rocky ground, and disturbed areas. Six weeks fescue provides little forage for large animals but can be used as forage for desert tortoises and small desert animals.
Host plant: common ringlet, sandhill skipper, Sonora skipper, Lindsey’s skipper, Nevada skipper, white-lined sphinx, and the yellow-collared scape moth
