Scientific Name: Clarkia purpurea
Purple clarkia is an annual herb, also known as winecup clarkia and winecup fairy fan, native to western North America, particularly in the meadows, grasslands, woodlands, and rocky slopes of California, Oregon, and Washington. Purple clarkias have slender branching stems, lance-shaped leaves, and bowl-shaped clusters of vibrant and showy pink, purple, deep red, and occasionally white blooms. It is often used in meadows, native wildflower gardens, and restoration projects. Indigenous Californians harvested the seeds to grind for food. These flowers bloom from April through August, attracting pollinators such as butterflies and bees, contributing to local ecosystems.
Host Plant: white-lined sphinx, pacific green sphinx moth, Clark’s day sphinx moth, Mariposa forester, and many butterfly caterpillars
Each wildflower seed packet contains approximately 100 seeds.
