Pubescent wheatgrass is an introduced perennial grass very similar to intermediate wheatgrass, but it is more drought tolerant and winter hardy. This crop is identifiable by the short, stiff hairs on its seeds and seedheads. Commonly used for grazing and hay, pubescent wheatgrass is adapted to a wide range of soil conditions and elevations. Grows up to 4 feet tall.
