Bermudagrass is a popular warm-season turfgrass. Commonly planted across the southern United States, this species does well in full sun and is tolerant of heat, drought, and traffic. Bermudagrass also has a superb salt resistance, which also makes it perfect for coastal seeding. Click here to view our Bermuda grass seed.
While our seeded turf-type bermudagrass varieties will differ from time to time based on availability, we’re currently using a variety known as ‘VSP Triple’. This variety is actually made up of three other varieties; ‘Blackjack’, ‘Gobi’, and ‘Jackpot’. These three seeded varieties were selected for improved turf performance, compatibility, genetic diversity and broad adaptation. Learn more about each variety that makes up our bermudagrass seed blend.
Bermuda Grass Variety #1: Blackjack
This vigorous, fine-bladed cultivar adds color and density to any warm-season blend throughout the hottest summer months. In addition, Blackjack shows remarkable cold tolerance even in cold winter areas. Blackjack provides a dense green lawn all summer long.
Bermuda Grass Variety #2: Gobi
An interesting newer variety of seeded bermudagrass developed in Spain; Gobi is much darker, denser, and finer leaved than typical common or common type varieties. It was selected for improved drought tolerance. It has been extensively used in the warmer parts of Europe and North Africa. It is adapted well into the transition zone in the U.S.
Bermuda Grass Variety #3: Jackpot
Jackpot is a well-proven variety with excellent performance and turf density; its fine leaf texture and darker color are similar to the hard to plant sprigged varieties. Selected from improved plants found in eastern Washington, Jackpot performs well in cooler parts of the transition zone.
